How To Manage Our Financial Concerns With Bad Credit Debt Consolidation Loans?
Sometimes, despite meticulous planning, things do not go as anticipated and financial problems come up. In other instances, emergencies arise such as illness or accidents that can throw one off track. Large scale natural calamities like floods and earthquakes may also strike leaving behind a trail of damage and momentarily bringing life to a standstill. It leaves many asking for answers. Such events also cause financial havoc. If one was servicing a loan for instance, it may be difficult to keep up with repayments leading to bad credit. Fortunately, there is a way out as to how to manage our financial concerns with bad credit debt consolidation loans.
It can be at the least disturbing and at worst highly stressful to have to deal with creditors are calling at the door. One may also be facing foreclosure of their home and possible repossession of other items taken on loan such as a car. Failing to pay back borrowed money is also damaging in that it gives one a poor rating which makes it difficult to borrow money in future which would be very limiting.
There is reprieve from such a situation and a way to get on track financially once again and that is by taking out a loan to repay bad debt. These are loans that are tailored specifically for people who find themselves unable to keep up with repayments on a loan. Money owed may be from a single loan or more than one.
The way these kinds of loans work is that the outstanding amount is paid on behalf of the person unable to repay. This may be paid in full or at agreed intervals such as monthly. Payments are made directly to the creditors by the loan company.
In turn, the client repays it to the company that has undertaken to clear the amount owed that he was unable to repay. Rather than have several creditors to pay back, he now only has the debt consolidation loan to repay. The repayments are done based on an agreement made according to how much one is able to pay without defaulting.
Apart from having a heavy load taken off, this kind of assistance also save a credit rating from going down. This would make it difficult to secure credit in future as records of bad debts remain on record for several years even after a debt has been repaid. It also prevents damaging outcomes like being declared bankrupt or facing civil lawsuits over unpaid debts.
It is important to note that debt consolidation loans are a form of credit as well. This means that they will be paid back with interest. It is therefore important to take the time to compare the interest rates that different companies offering these loans offer.
It may seem the end of the world when one is dealing with creditors, the possibility of having possessions repossessed and the embarrassment of being rated and classed as one who is incapable of paying back what they owe. Bad credit debt consolidation loans are a welcome light at the end of the tunnel.

Card Holder's Bill Of Rights Passes House Vote
Reacting to the massive outcry from credit card holders across the country, The House of Representatives passed The Card Holder's Bill of Rights which prohibits the types of sudden interest rate hikes and exorbitant fees commonly charged by credit card companies. The bill passed in a landslide bipartisan vote of 357 to 70 attributed to both public outcry and The Obama Administration's intensive lobbying which was promised during the presidential campaign.
The bill comes at a time when the total amount of credit card debt in the U.S. has increased by 25% over the last ten years with most of that increase coming in the last few years. As of January 2009, the total amount of credit card debt stood at just under one trillion dollars with an average of $10,679 in consumer debt for each household with a credit card. These numbers are expected to grow because, for many struggling consumers, their credit cards have been the only way source of funds in the face of job losses and the tightened credit markets. Also expected to increase are the numbers of consumers seeking debt relief options such as debt settlement, credit counseling, and bankruptcy as keeping up with the spiraling credit card debt becomes more of a struggle.
The public outcry against the credit card companies started gathering momentum as the companies began raising interest rates and fees in part to offset the losses they were incurring as their mortgage portfolios imploded. In many cases, model consumers that had been paying on time with no infractions saw their rates increase by as much as 80% without notice. The fact that these same banks were accepting billions of taxpayer funds from programs like TARP at the same time only served to inflame the issue further.
Banking activities prohibited by the bill are double cycle billing, retro-active rate hikes, and the issuance of credit cards to anyone under the age of 18. When payments are greater than the minimum payment due, excess funds would be required to be credited against balances with the highest interest rate. Similar legislation is moving through the Senate and is expected to pass within the next few weeks. Proponents are trying to get a finalized congressional package to the White House for its endorsement before the Memorial Day weekend but challenges from opponents trying to weaken or delay the bill are expected. Once signed, the bill's provisions would not go into effect for another year with the exception of a requirement that card holders receive 45 days notice prior to an interest rate hike. That aspect of the legislation would go into effect 90 days after the bill becomes law.

Banks Aren't Tightening in One Area
Due to losses in banking activities across the board, and in credit cards specifically, banks have been tightening lending standards, lowering credit limits, and raising fees wherever they can. Other factors for credit card issuers are the enactment of The Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility, and Disclosure Act (aka the Credit CARD Act) and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Agency which is mandated to oversee the CARD Act. The Credit Card Act, which starts phasing in provisions in August, was pushed through Congress by the Obama Administration and signed into law in May. The law's goal is to reign in fee and interest rate increases by credit card issuers but is full of loopholes and has given the issuers enough advance notice to allow them to raise rates, convert fixed accounts to variables, and hike fees ahead of any limitations which would curb the activities.
In reaction to the bill, issuers have promised to tighten lending standards and make it tougher in general for their cardholders. One of those promises will be carried out by Chase as they raise their minimum payment percentage from two to five percent on outstanding balances for a certain card holders. That one action will prove to be an unsustainable burden for already struggling customers as, for example, a six hundred dollar minimum payment requirement becomes fifteen hundred dollars.
All things considered, it is interesting to note then that there is one area where issuers aren't tightening their standards. The single category where standards are being loosened is in overdrafts on checking and debit cards but it's not for the purpose of extending an olive branch to hard pressed customers. Called "courtesy overdrafts" by the industry, banks are now allowing bigger and more frequent overdrafts on these accounts and then charging huge fees for the courtesy. An action that was originally part of good customer service has been morphed into one of the biggest revenue drivers at banks across the country as coached by a new breed of consultants that teach banks how to wring more money out of each customer.
The practice is now being used at the ten largest banks in the country and, with an estimate of $38.5 billion in charges for this year, will generate almost twice as much as late and over limit fees on credit cards. Bank of America allows ten overdrafts per day currently, up from five in 2008. Industry experts, seeing a shift away from credit cards to debit cards as consumers become more averse to carrying debt, are forecasting steady increases in courtesy overdraft fees for years to come.
The banks also rig the courtesy overdraft system to generate maximum fees per overdraft. The system as devised by the banks can even hit an account with overdraft fees when specific charges don't result in an overdraft. In fact, an account can have enough money in to cover charges all day long but if the last charge of the day overdraws the account, the bank can charge courtesy overdrafts on every charge made that day. In that scenario, the bank could extend $10 to cover the last overdraft and then charge the customer $35 for every other charge made that day. If there were ten charges prior to overdraft, the customer would be out $350.
Another way banks rig the game is that regardless of the order in which charges are made, banks will put the daily charges in order form largest to the smallest. The banks say they structure it this way because they assume big checks, like mortgages, should take priority and hit the account first to avoid being returned. What it also does is reduce risk for the bank while allowing for more fees to be charged to the customer. By covering a big check first with funds on hand, the bank can then charge overdraft charges on expenditures as small as one dollar while extending a minimum of "credit".
Percentage-wise, it's great business for the issuers. According to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp., if banks cover a $20 purchase and charge a $27 fee, the loan has a 3,520% annual percentage rate (APR) if paid back in two weeks. Threatened with legislation to regulate the abuses, the industry is fighting any form of regulation on overdraft fees simply due to importance of the fees in relation to their bottom lines. "Overdraft fees are the mother lode of (deposit) fees," summarized Michael Moebs of Moebs Services, an economic research firm. "If it weren't for overdraft fees, 45% of banks and credit unions wouldn't have made money in 2008."
What can consumers do? While banks are drawing a line on returning courtesy overdraft fees, a phone call can to the branch or customer service can still result in a positive outcome. Additionally, sign up for online banking or find out how you can track your account via phone. If you're low in the account be sure to check your balance before charging something else to your account. If you've put a number of charges through during the day be absolutely sure to do it. Go over on your account by a dollar and that $3 frozen yogurt could end up costing you $300 in "courtesy" extended by your bank.

Financial Advice: How To Get Out Of Your Credit Card Debt
Being under debt is a common problem for many credit card users. People are required to repay the debt or face legal action. The repayment process may not be easy especially if you have financial problems.
Fortunately, there are several ways that you can repay your debts even when you do not have the money. One of the most widely used methods is borrowing consolidation loans.
Borrowing such a loan is a clever way on catering for your debts. It is mostly useful in scenarios where the credit card debts have high interest rates and you are running out of the specified repayment period. Therefore, if you borrow such a loan, you will be able to repay all your high interest credit card debts in time.
This will leave you with just the consolidation loan to repay. Such loans usually have a lower interest rates and ample repayment period and that is what makes them a popular means out of debts.
But where do you get consolidation loan to repay your credit?
Being in debt is a state that will obviously disqualify you for a normal loan. You will only be qualified for special types of loans, like consolidation loans, depending on your financial situation. There are several financial institutions that give out such loans to help people in settling their debts.
The most widely used avenues for consolidation loans are banks and online financial institutions. They all have different requirements for loan application. However, there are several requirements that are common in all the companies and financial institutions that specialize in such loans.
One of the factors that have to be looked into is your income. Although you may have troubles in repaying a credit card debt, you have to assure the creditor that you have a regular income that will guarantee the repayment of the loans. The higher your income, the bigger the loan that you will be qualified for.
Your loan repayment history is another consideration criterion. You have to have a reasonably good history in repayment of loans before being considered for consolidation loans. Your current credit card debt situation may not be used as a judgment basis.
Some creditors also consider your equity and consequently home ownership. The bigger your equity, the more the loan amount you will qualify. Being a home owner also boosts your chances of qualifying for a loan as this is adequate collateral for your loan. Other common requirements include being over the age of 18 and a U. S. Citizen.
Finally, it is important to ensure that you only borrow consolidation loans that you can repay in the specified time period. Apart from that, you should also ensure that you get one that is sufficient to pay your credit card debt.

Credit Consolidation: Improve Your Credit Rating by Consolidating Your Debt
If you wake up one day and realize that your credit rating has dropped way below your ideal number, your first instinct would probably be to panic. However, this doesn't necessarily mean that your finances will completely go down the drain. There are many solutions you can take to improve your credit rating without having to go through all the hassles of bankruptcy, foreclosure, and other financial setbacks. Consolidating your debt is one of those solutions. Credit consolidation (also called debt consolidation) involves gathering all your existing debt into a new single account.
Once you decide to consolidate your debt, one of the steps you should take is to find a reliable credit consolidation company to work with. There is no shortage of such companies but you do have to be very meticulous in making your choice. It is a sad fact that there are plenty of companies out there that are not as dependable as they portray themselves in their advertisements. Make sure you only work with companies that have the necessary accreditation and licenses, and that can offer you practical solutions to your financial problems.
Another item that should be on your agenda is to create an organized list of all debts you want to consolidate. Each item on your list should contain the name of the creditor, their contact information, the loan's interest rate, the monthly payment that you make, and the current outstanding balance. Once you have written down all the debt that you have, add up their balances. The resulting figure is the total debt you have, which you will be paying off gradually through credit consolidation. For most people, looking at this figure is a very difficult thing to do because it is usually bigger than what they had anticipated. However, by looking at your debt face to face, you will know exactly how much you still have to work for.
Many individuals find that debt consolidation is a very effective way of helping them recover from heavy debt. To make it even more effective, you can combine debt consolidation with other debt management strategies such as debt negotiation. Experts in debt negotiation will be able to help you reduce your interest rates and monthly payments to amounts that you never thought possible. They will also be able to help you get approved for new loans that have lower interest rates. Most debt consolidation companies also offer debt negotiation services in their packages.
If your main concern is to improve your credit score and bring it back up to what it was before, consolidating your debt could very well be the best course of action to take. Millions of people have succeeded in repairing their credit rating simply by using debt consolidation as a solution to their financial problems. Of course, you still have to put in a lot of effort in making the monthly payments, but this is certainly a lot more convenient and easier on the budget as opposed to paying several different accounts, many of which may have quite high interest rates. With a little bit of discipline and some amount of sacrifice, you can easily redeem yourself financially by consolidating your debt.

Is It Worth It To Use A Consolidation Loan To Pay Off Mounting Credit Card Debt?
If you have a single credit card that you use, you will probably find it easy to manage. You can keep track of your spending and make a payment towards it every month. If however, you have spent money on several cards you may be finding it much more difficult to control. Juggling these debts can be a tricky and sometimes dangerous game. One of the possible solutions for this problem is to take out credit card debt consolidation loans.
This kind of debt often becomes a problem when the borrower can only afford to pay back the minimum monthly repayments. While doing this will keep your credit history looking healthy it will not actually decrease the balance. In fact your balance will grow each month due to the interest that is added.
If you continue using your cards in this way over some time it will get to a point where the minimum payments are too high for you to pay. When you cannot pay, the lender will add fees and charges and your balance will keep rising. Once in this situation it can be very difficult to get out of.
One of the ways of sorting out this problem is to combine all of your borrowings. The idea is to add up your total debt and take out a loan for this amount. You then pay off all of your cards with the loan so that you are only left with one debt to the loan company. This means that there is only one monthly payment to make.
A single monthly payment should be easier to manage providing you can afford it. It can be dangerous to take out one of these loans and then keep spending on your old cards as you will soon find yourself in the position of having to take out another loan. These loans should be used as a way to manage debt, not to borrow more money.
In order to borrow money in this way you might have to meet certain requirements. You will have to be at least eighteen years old and you will probably have to be a United States citizen. In most cases you may have to prove that you are working and that you are able to make the monthly repayments.
A credit card consolidation loan could help you to manage your money more easily. As long as you can afford the combined payment it will be much simpler only keeping track of one account. Just be careful not to keep spending elsewhere or you may find yourself in the same position again soon.

The qualifications for such programs are similar to that of traditional loans. One must be of legal age, usually 18 or older, and a United States citizen. Additionally, one must be able to prove gainful employment so that the lending institution is assured of repayment. If the borrower has poor credit, collateral for the loan may be necessary. If this is not possible, the dilemma can be solved with a cosigner. A cosigner is someone who will cover the monthly payments should the primary borrower default on the arrangement.
A loan of this type can be applied for online, but it is essential that one choose wisely when selecting a company. For example, the National Foundation for Credit Counseling can be contacted for recommendations. This organization typically maintains a list of the country's most reputable loan agencies. The Better Business Bureau in one's home state is also a good source of information about the legitimacy of a particular company.
When one consolidates his or her accounts, the interest rate on the new financial arrangement is typically much lower than the combined average interest of his or her previous accounts. The interest rate associated with the loan is dependent on a very high number of variables, which are rarely the same from one borrower to the next. However, a person can expect to save anywhere from four to ten percent with such an arrangement.
Those who are paying on debt consolidation loans should avoid running up new balances. If one uses the credit that was made available through the consolidation process, the result will be new bills in addition to the loan payment, which ultimately equals more debt than he or she had before. For this reason, it is imperative that one resist the temptation to run up new balances.
There are many ways to solve financial difficulties, and debt consolidation loans are the remedy of choice for many individuals. Provided a reputable company is chosen, and one has adequate income to make the monthly payments, such an arrangement is ideal. For this reason, a consolidation loan should be considered by anyone who is struggling with excessive credit card debt.

Conquering Post-Holiday Credit Card Debt
Everyone enjoys gift-giving during the holiday season, regret their shopping spree in January when the large bills start piling in. Although it's best not to over-spend in the first place, if you find yourself in a bind with post-holiday debt there are a few ways to tackle those bills and pay off the debt once and for all. And once you've paid off that post-holiday debt, set a budget and start saving for the next season to avoid falling into the debt-trap again.
Stop Spending
While this may seem like a no-brainer, many shoppers continue to use their credit cards after the season, when those post-holiday sales hit. Cut up unnecessary credit cards, such as those from department stores, to avoid using them. If you must keep a credit card for emergencies, stick to a Visa and MasterCard and resolve to use it only when necessary. And no, a shoe sale does not count as an emergency. Sorry.
List the Debts
The majority of Americans carry more than one credit card. In fact, it's not uncommon for shoppers to open several lines of credit from various stores during the holiday season. Compile a list of each card, the amount owed and most importantly, the amount of interest they charge. Not only will this help you keep organized, you will know the total you owe altogether and which card has the highest interest rate.
Develop a Plan
Once you determine how much you owe, it's time to make a plan to pay off those bills. While many debtors prefer to pay off the smallest first to get rid of them, that's not always the best solution. Instead pay more to those with the highest interest rates as that added interest expense will cost you more in the long-run. Many sites offer online debt calculators which allow you to determine how long it will take to pay off a debt at the current interest rate. You'd be surprised at the long length of time you'll be paying for a short shopping spree.
Compiling the Bills
Take advantage of lower interest cards. If you have a lower interest card that allows you to transfer balances from other cards on to it, transferring those high interest cards to the lower interest one will not only help compile your debt but could save you hundreds of dollars. Just be careful to read the fine print. Some companies may offer initial lower rates on balance transfers but then increase the rate after a period of time. Contact your credit card company for details before transferring those balances.

Dealing With a Mortgage and I Have Cash
So many homeowners have the goal to pay off their home mortgage early but there some things you need to consider before you take that step.
First in my book is cash. Never run your savings low to pay off your mortgage. Using the majority of your cash to pay off a mortgage is never a good idea. It can take years to build up or a windfall to obtain but once it is spent you cannot get it back. Things happen in life we do not plan on or think will ever happen but they do, and if the situation requires cash you will have it on hand instead of tied up in your home mortgage.
Some people plan on paying down their mortgage while having in mind a cash out loan will be there if needed. Doing a cash out loan on your home mortgage has more than one pitfall. When you do cash out on your house, the lender always charges points. So in other words you are paying an upfront fee to access your own money. This does not include other closing costs like an appraisal, title search and other fees. Also, you are paying interest on your loan so now you are back right where you started but still no cash on hand. Even worse, what happens if you lose your job and need your cash? Now you do not qualify for a loan so you can't access you money.
The housing market today is enough to make anyone be careful about paying off the mortgage. If you live in area where housing prices are not stable, you may never get all of your cash back out of your home. Some people pay off their home then later find the value dropped 18% or more. That can be devastating! Make sure to get a current value before making that decision. I would recommend contacting a local realtor. They will be happy to look at your market area and run some comparative properties at no charge. Also, always include checking with your local property taxing authority. If your property taxes recently went down then so did the value of your home. If the realtor says your area has a large number of homes for sale, that will soften the value and the lender takes those factors into consideration when determining the amount they will offer to loan. If you have other debt like credit cards or a car loan pay those off first. These other type debts normally have a higher interest rate and you cannot deduct the expense on your tax return. Many states allow your home loan interest to be tax deductible which can save you hundreds of dollars a year.
If you are in a good cash position and your credit card debt is small try paying your home mortgage down in stages. This allows you maintain a level of cash on hand and still reduces your overall note. Some lenders will allow you to modify your loan so a large reduction will also reduce your monthly note. Once that is done, put the difference into your saving account. You will be on the way to living a debt free life with cash in the bank.

It is common to find oneself in a situation where meeting your financial obligations becomes quite difficult. It is also possible to use this facility to clear loans that have extremely high interest rates. It is a great asset as it allows you to pay your monthly installments with a single check as opposed to writing multiple notes. It has the added advantage of improving your credit rating.
However, to qualify for it, there are a number of conditions to be met. This is meant to bring some order and create some safety nets in the financial market. While the service providers are at liberty to establish their own ground rules. The law of the land has also set some basic requirements that are not negotiable. This is to make sure that everyone has a level playing field that is safe and conducive for business.
The most important is the legal age. Legally you cannot enter into a binding contractual agreement if you fall below the age of eighteen. This means any company that enters into any agreement with you stands exposed. The contract cannot be enforced. Therefore to be considered for this service, one must provide some proof of age.
Once this stage is done proof of citizenship will also be needed. It is not possible to secure a loan in any country if one is not a citizen or has permanent residency status. The law demands that this condition be met as a means of protecting the economy from sabotage. If this law was not in place, it will be easy to transfer huge amounts of money from an economy thus leaving it vulnerable.
As a rule, for one to qualify for any loan proof of ability to repay must be produced. In this case, you must show some evidence of having a regular monthly income. This could be from a business venture or a salary at the end of the month. Once you get the loan. It should be used for the purpose that it was intended for in the application. Bad Credit and Student Loan Consolidation Can Be Good Partners
Former students are often faced with multiple student loans once they are in the workplace and earning a decent salary. They may consider loan consolidation for all those loans, but they have a dread that it may hurt their already not-so-good credit rating. Is consolidation a smart move? That depends on your financial situation. Many issues demand consideration.
Consolidating student loans is a good idea for some, maybe not so good for others. Many venues exist to consolidate loans and the way is somewhat cluttered. Possible repayment plans and other intricacies demand that any consolidation be tailor-made. Often, consolidation can save the borrower money, sometimes not. If it does not, it may be that consolidation gives you a lower monthly payment.
Student Loan Consolidation and Credit Ratings
Life is somewhat easier with a loan consolidation. Instead of having a bunch of pesky payments, all due on a different day of the month, at different payment amounts, with different interest rates; you only pay one bill, once a month on the same day, at the same amount, and at the same interest rate. But, what about your credit rating? Will it put a skull and cross bones on your credit reports.
Consolidating your student loans will not hurt your credit. In fact, it could even help it. Credit bureaus have a two ways they look at debt - there is bad debt and good debt. As an example: Credit card debt is considered bad debt. They do not do anything but entice debt. Student loans are seen as good debt. You pulled a student loan so you could get a better job and increase your salary, it is an investment in the future.
Watch Your Credit Rating
As mentioned earlier, consolidation may even increase your score. Take an example: If you have six student loans, that is listed as six different accounts, all of which demand a monthly payment. A student loan consolidation will roll all those debts into one. As far as the bureau is concerned, that single debt is much nicer than six debts and your rating mounts.
Hopefully your payment rate is less than the sum of all the single debts you were paying. Having a lower monthly obligation is again looked on favorably by the bureau and your potential lenders. Paying off student loans before consolidation probably took a hefty amount of your take-home pay. So, freeing up some of your income is a significant plus.
Open Lines of Credit
As the bureaus determine your credit rating, they will be on the look out for any open lines of credit you are presently using. If you have six loans that you are paying off, those are seen as open lines of credit, six of them. With consolidation, you have only one line of credit open. One open line against six gives another big boost to your credit ratings or scores.
So, if your financial situation involves more intricacies than those presented above, a student loan consolidation may not be right for you. For most it will bring up credit scores and probably lessen your financial burden. It will certainly simplify your bill paying chores. If a student loan is right for you, make the move. Your pocket book will thank you. Your good credit history will help you.

The ups lead to the downs and not the other way around. When we are up, we tend to make certain unprecedented decisions. We rarely think them through because in our head, we think that good times remain. Probably, when you have liquid cash, you would think of buying a plasma television, and you go ahead and do it not concerning yourself with the future. You spend a lot of money on unnecessary commodities, things which you could do without. You end up in debt once you are in the down cycle. You ask your friends, and you even apply for loans from banks. Sooner than you know it, you have debts from left, right and center. It is often said that we should know our purpose in this life to be completely fulfilled. All the self-empowering books talk about this, right?
Once you have found the right people, ask them the benefits of getting these types of loans from them. The common benefits are; reduced monthly payments, no initiation or bond registration fees and one loan, one low interest rate. This is as described previously.

The final step is to download an online application form. This form should not be from any site but should be from the one you picked after your research. Are you seeing how important research is? There are details you should fill in critically as there could be trick questions or questions that may have a different meaning from you comprehension.

Debt and Inflation
Debt and Inflation, when it comes to financial issues these are two of most spoken works we hear these days. It is important that we learn the relationship between these two terms. Inflation always has a deep impact on our power of buying or in other words, its affect on cost-effectiveness on the borrowing money. There are many cases, in which it is cheaper to borrow money and pay interest instead of paying off the loan itself. This is exactly opposite to what many financial advisors will advise you. They are correct in telling you to pay off your loans. You should understand this and this is important for your financial stability.
The mortgage rates are at a historic low these days and it is very unlikely that you will ever see any lower rates of mortgage ever again. You are able to get a home mortgage for 4% - 5% and this will be locked for the next 30 years of your house. On the other hand, inflation has been at around 6% traditionally. This means that a dollar last year is now worth around $1.06 now. If something was bought at a price of $1 last year, it will be worth $1.06 today. The inflation does not change smoothly but rather very dramatically and the average has been 6% historically.
This means that a house worth $100.000 is going to be worth $106,000 after one year and $280,000 in 30 years. This sounds interesting, as it seems that the value of house will increase but the fact is that the $280,000 in 30 years might even be less worthy than $100,000 today.
For this obvious reason, many experts advise to pay off your loans as soon as possible with lowest interest rates possible. As getting loan against your house will result in you paying the bank money for the next 30 years and just the interest you will end up paying will be more than the original price of the house. The concept of acquiring a debt consolidation loan to pay off your existing loans is getting popularity. By this method, you will end up paying low interest on a single large loan instead of paying high interests on several small loans. You will not only save money which is going to be paid to the banks as interest otherwise but also save valuable time by making a single payment instead of multiple ones.

Debt Consolidation - Take Control of Your Money Now
The current financial turmoil in the US is getting a lot of headlines. You have probably heard and considered several attention grabbing headlines and tried determine how the current financial turmoils will affect the value of your house and your future in general. Anything from the out of control spending of the government, the "debt crisis," the high foreclosure rate, the high employment rate, lay-offs, the high cost of oil, the rising cost food and the declining value of the dollar. For us as average Americans, every dollar counts and the crunch of the higher cost at the tank and to put food on the table is quite noticeable. We have to buy those things, but maybe you can control your debt payments and get a little back in your pocket.
I have seen some funny videos or possibly attempts at humor that suggest the credit companies got what they deserve, I guess because they lent to us. I think part of the reason they are not funny is that we know we bought the stuff. We may remember some fudge to get a credit card or we may remember being loose and fancy free with the card. We see the mess and we want to do the right thing, but without help sometimes that seems impossible.
The best you can do as inflation increases is take care of the debt and negotiate lower rates when the Federal Reserve lending rate is low. Lock in an agreement now! You can create flexibility for your dollars if you can reduce the interest rate on your debt. Consolidation is an excellent tool to reduce interest rates, which then reduces your payment. You create a plan to make the debt start to come down every month with a controlled payment. In these current times without an agreement, your interest rate could go up and your payment increase with it. When that happens, the amount that goes towards the balance stays the same. Your situation gets that much more precarious with each raising interest rate as you pay more, but the debt amount hardly goes down.
You may be able to go to your creditors and negotiate better rates yourself. It will depend on the severity of your individual situation. If you have missed the due date one or more times in the last year, credit card companies will not talk to you. If you are lucky and the late payment was close to 6 months ago, they may consider taking off a few percentage points, but 31% to 25% won't make much difference. By contrast, if you are in a program and have agreed to a budget and to close or suspend the accounts, they will be much more likely to listen to a debt consolidator. In fact, with someone describing your situation in full, they will likely accept this is an option of last resort and that failure to agree may result in the receipt of no further payments. Also, there is the added the assurance that you are working with someone which makes you seem serious about the situation.

Gain Control With a Bad Credit Student Loan Consolidation
Your junior and senior years in high school should include preparing for college and figuring out ways to finance your reach for a higher education. As you look into the various schools and examine the course progressions offered by them, you need to start thinking about debt that may get out of hand and require a bad credit student loan consolidation.
If you can take loans from just a few financial institutions that will offer enough to cover all your expenses, you may never have to rely on a bad credit student loan consolidation. If you borrow a little from this source and a little from that, you may start defaulting on some payments and need to take bad credit student loan consolidation. Also, understand that having no credit is pretty much the same as having a bad credit report.
Student Numbers Increase
While it is a good thing that more young people than ever before are seeking a higher education, it is also true that resources have become scarcer, such as grants and scholarships. Also, many students are facing the reality that their parents may not be in a position to help them.
Typically, you have to pay tuition up front. If you do not have any collateral, you have to start off with a poor credit (no credit) student loan. You may be prompted to have a credit card to get you from one monthly allotment to the next. Poor credit student loans, or poor credit student loan consolidations can be secured or unsecured. If you happen to own a home or other valuable property, you can get lower than usual interest rates by offering them as collateral.
Higher Education Means Better Jobs
Higher education is usually the first step toward better paying jobs in a field of interest to the student. Student loans are an absolute necessity in the world of today. If a student already has some defaults or late payments on their record, or no credit history at all, bad credit student loans are the course to take.
A bad credit student consolidation loan gives peace of mind in at least two ways. For one thing, you only have one creditor. You make one payment at one time of the month in the same amount under a single interest rate. Speaking of interest rates, consolidation loans are usually charged at the interest rate of the median of all your consolidated loans.
High Interest Reconsidered
As mentioned, one of the problems of bad credit student loans is the high interest rates. Placing all high interest loans with one lender will often result in a lower interest rate. It may not be lower for all loans, but it will bring down some of them, especially credit card debt, to a rate that is manageable.
One thing important about loans, is to shop around before taking one. There are so many lenders available, you should be able to pick and choose the one with the lowest interest rate and the most comfortable repayment terms. As you are rounding out your plans for your education and have narrowed your search to three or four institutions, you should talk to the admissions or financial services offices. They can give you the best information regarding bad credit student loans and bad credit student loan consolidations.
After Graduation
Most student loans do not have to be paid on until after studies are completed. At that point, with a job on the lower rung and lower pay of the career choice, you may really see the need for a bad credit student loan consolidation. You may be running all over the place trying to keep up with all the payments. Once you have a consolidation, try to give your finances a little rest by not running up yet more debt. Use a few years for breathing time.

How Debt Collection Works
Debt collection can be quite a scary thing. Sometimes the calls can be rather threatening and harassing, while other debt collectors might appear to be trying to help you with payment options or plans. It is quite often that people do not have the money to pay their minimum payment let alone their balance in full, and this can cause quite a lot of frustration between the harassing phone calls and having to explain that you do not have the money to make your payments.
The first step in collection, once your credit card becomes delinquent, is for the credit card company to use their employees to try and collect the debt. They will generally just call on a regular basis to remind you to make a payment at first, but after several months they will become more aggressive. They will generally offer you some kind of deal such as no interest for a certain time period or eliminating some of your fees, but this is just an effort to get you back to paying your monthly payment. The only deals that they will make will be to their benefit, and if you do not respond they will threaten legal action.
When the collection attempts become unsuccessful they will then mark the account as a charge-off account. This means that the credit card company will consider it a loss, and will begin to proceed with collection in a different manner.
More often then not this is when the account is sold off to another company which then turns around and hires a debt collection agency to try and recoup the funds. These companies only make money if you pay the balance in full. They purchase the account for a fraction of what is owed and everything about that is their profit, so they will want to get out of the account as much money as possible.
The 3rd party debt collectors can be quite scary. They will use any tactics possible in order to try and collect the debt including threatening jail time. The problem is that you really have nothing that you are able to do in order to stop the phone calls which will be coming at any time of day, several times of day, every day of the week.
The government is somewhat helpful in these terms. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act has an entire list of regulations that are to be followed by the debt collection agencies. Should the agencies not follow the rules than you will be able to file civil suit against them for damages.
If debt collection fails the account will then be turned over to a debt collection attorney. The attorney will then be allowed to take legal action against the person in order to receive repayment for the account. The account holder will not have anyway to deal with the account at this point, but will simply be required to pay how the court regulates.

Who Is the Credit Card Act Trying to Help?
A new survey by the New York-based nonprofit research and advocacy group Demos shows that before the mortgage meltdown got into its full swing and the economy went deep into recession, Americans in low and middle income brackets were using their credit cards to cover basic living expenses, medical costs, and other day to day necessities, building up their balances in the process. Plastic was used to cover basic living expenses like rent or mortgage payments, groceries and utilities by more than one-third of the households in the survey. And three out of four people who took part said they used their cards for essential spending like car repairs, home repairs and college expenses.
More than half of those in the survey, which asked questions of people who carried balances for at least three months, said medical expenses contributed to their debt. This was especially true for older Americans, who saw their credit card debt increase by 26% over the previous three years to an average balance of $10,235. ''With just over half of indebted households citing medical expenses as contributing to their credit card debt, this is clearly an issue not only for the uninsured, but the insured as well,'' said Tamara Draut, Demos' vice president of policy and programs.
The survey dispels some of the misconceptions on how credit card balances accumulate and how they get out of hand. ''One of the biggest myths about the rise in credit card debt is that it is a result of frivolous spending,'' said researcher Jose Garcia, an associate director for research and policy for Demos. Garcia added that well before the worst of the recession arrived card holders were using their cards as a safety net and to make up for income shortfalls.
The Demos study also confirmed what other studies have revealed as well; that low and middle class wage earners pay the highest credit card rates in the country. Almost 25% of card holders surveyed said they paid at least 20% on their outstanding balances. For Black and Latino families, the percentage paying more than 20% on balances rose to 33%.
Over 50% of the homeowners in the study had tried to pay down their credit card debt using cash out refi's, second mortgages, or home equity lines of credit. Thomas Shapiro, a professor at the Brandeis University Heller School for Social Policy and Management, said that finding means that these people used ''their largest reservoir of savings'' to cover past spending. ''That major form of savings for middle and low income families is something that has been disrupted for many Americans,'' he said. ''It's like eating your seed corn, something that you have saved for the future, to pay down past consumption.''
The most troubling aspect of the data relating to these income groups is that the study ended well before the credit card companies started moving aggressively toward hiking rates, fees, and payments on their riskiest categories of borrowers. With the first phase of provisions going into effect on the new Credit CARD bill in late August, card holders like those in the survey will likely be feeling the heat of increased interest rates, lowered credit limits, and increased minimum payments. For those carrying heavy balances, the increases will be an even tougher pill to swallow as, for instance, minimum monthly payments with certain issuers are set to increase by 250%.
Anyone looking at those kinds of payment increases has to wonder what the administration had in mind when they set out to protect credit card holders. Outsmarted by the issuers, policymakers can only sit and watch as the loopholes they left wide open are exploited at the expense of the very people they were supposed to help. For card holders that can't keep up with the increases, the best solution for debt relief will be to engage a law firm to negotiate a debt settlement with their credit card issuers. Other unsecured debts such as medical bills, unpaid utilities, and department store debt can also be rolled in to the settlement. Card holders receive immediate relief with a 50% reduction on monthly payments related to the accounts rolled in to the settlement. The long term benefit of the debt settlement lies in the full payoff of accounts after they have been negotiated down by 40% to 60%, within 48 months.
While the credit card issuers were fighting the approval of the Credit CARD bill, they warned that costs would go up across board if they couldn't increase costs on their riskiest borrowers. It has become apparent that the issuers will hit their high risk borrowers as hard as they can before consumer protections go into effect and then let chips fall where they may. The good news for struggling card holders is that instead of a lifetime of struggling to make minimum payments they now have the power to eliminate their unsecured debt within four years with a debt settlement.

Debt settlement and debt programs function in different ways. With debt settlement, you negotiate with your creditors in order to reduce the principal amount of debt owed. Debt settlement is useful for people when they significantly lag behind in paying the bills and when they owe unsecured like bankruptcy filing.

Three Ways To Mess Up Your Debt Settlement
Debt ratios for consumers across the country are at historic highs in terms of debt versus income, as a percentage of the Gross Domestic Product, and as a result, a record number of consumers are seeking debt relief in the form of debt settlement, debt consolidation, debt counseling, and bankruptcy. As traumatic as going through any of these processes from start to finish can be, many consumers end up right back where they started, facing a huge debt load with monthly payments that are again out of reach. Having been buried with the burden of debt once, how does it happen that these consumers end up in the same predicament? Three behaviors typically put consumers back in harm's way.
I'm glad that's over! - Letting a little complacency sneak in is natural once the debt settlement process begins. Collection calls are less frequent, there is only payment to make, and there might even be a little money left over at the end of the month. Relaxing a little is definitely permissible. It's a mistake to get carried away however. A consumer taking the attitude that "it's over" can fool himself into the belief that it was all temporary and there is no need to change all those bad spending habits, when nothing could be further from the truth.
Whew! We just dodged a bullet. Let's party! - In a debt settlement, a consumer's credit card payments are reduced by around 50% per month. If that struggling consumer was managing to stay current on the credit card payments right up to the beginning of the debt settlement, the reduced payment means that the consumer will have extra money in his or her pocket once the settlement is in force. Logic would have it that the consumer should put that extra money in a savings account or apply it to other debts but those actions would require the changes mentioned in the first bullet point. Instead, many consumers begin consuming again. If part of that consumption is to make up for lost time, the party is on and trouble is not far away.
What, I worry? - No budget, no plans to save anything, and continued spending at levels that can't be managed. All the issues that put the consumer into debt settlement in the first place are in full force again. The discipline required and the changes that should have been made never quite materialized and the effort and the opportunity to get back on solid financial footing have been lost.
For consumers struggling with the burden of too much credit card debt, a debt settlement can provide the opportunity to rebuild and gain control of their finances without going through a bankruptcy. The settlement process, however, is only half of the formula and a temporary one at that. Consumer behavior and spending habits have to change as well or all the effort of the debt settlement will go for naught. Fortunately, the needed changes are not difficult but they do require a level of discipline and commitment. For a lifetime of financial freedom, that discipline and commitment can go a long way.

Debt settlement and whole life insurance function in different ways. With debt settlement, you negotiate with your creditors in order to reduce the principal amount of debt owed. Debt settlement is useful for people when they significantly lag behind in paying the bills and when they owe unsecured like business insurance.

They Warned Us (and the Fed's Aren't Coming to Rescue)
After lobbying aggressively against its passage credit card issuers gave two warnings about the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009; that interest rates on their cards would have to increase and that the availability of credit would diminish. On May 22, 2009, President Obama signed the bill and the issuers have been making good on their warnings ever since. Administration officials feted the law's passage as "marking a turning point for American consumers and ending the days of unfair rate hikes and hidden fees." Unfortunately for those the bill was meant to protect, its impact has not matched its intent, as consumers reel from the hikes in rates, fees, and payments being put in by credit card issuers prior to the law's provisions going into effect.
Since the bill's signing, issuers have made, and continue to make wholesale changes to their cards ranging from fee hikes to switching accounts from fixed to variable interest rates. Other changes include the restriction of card benefits and steep rate increases as the credit card companies race to set their pre-regulation benchmarks before the provisions take hold. One increase which will cause immediate pain for a set of card holders is Chase's increase of its required minimum payment from 2 percent to 5 percent. Issuers are also hiking balance transfer fees by 60% to 100% as they cut credit limits across the board.
What happened? How could a bill with such honorable intentions make things so much worse, at least in the short term, for the most vulnerable card holders? Part of the answer lies in the allowance of time for credit card companies to get ready for the regulations to take effect. The problem for consumers is that the time allowance also gave the issuers a gaping window to set the table for themselves in terms of raising expenses, changing grace periods, and limiting available credit. These reactions are related directly to two of the main provisions of the bill.
The headline provision of the bill is aimed directly at restricting issuers' ability to raise interest rates in an unchecked fashion on existing balances. The restrictions are tighter on fixed accounts so credit card companies are responding by moving their fixed accounts to variables. Chase and Bank of America have already sent notices out to many of their fixed account card holders notifying them of the change to variable accounts. Another reason for the move to variable accounts is that interest rates in general are at cycle lows and can't go much lower. The switch away from fixed accounts will allow issuers to raise rates immediately should benchmarks start adjusting higher. Issuers are also expected to increase the margins that they charge above the benchmarks prior to the provisions taking effect.
Many credit card holders, in addition to their interest rates going higher, are also getting squeezed by the increased minimum payments and other changes such as the elimination of grace periods on purchases. Particularly galling to credit card holders is the explanation of higher minimum payments as a method of getting holders to pay off their balances more quickly as increases in rates and fees tack more to their balances each month.
One of the other changes deals with treatment of no interest balance transfers. Historically, when a consumer engages in a balance transfer offer and then makes purchases on the card at the regular interest rate, any payments in excess of the minimum payment are directed toward reducing the balance which is not being charged interest. The net result has been that interest accrues on the purchase balance until the balance which was transferred in is paid in full. The new bill changes this by directing credit card companies to apply excess payments to the balance subject to the highest interest rate.
Issuers have reacted to that change by tightening terms on zero interest balance transfers considerably. Usually a year in duration, the transfers are typically offered for only six months and will be much tougher to get approved. Secondly, balance transfer fees are going up from the 3% area to as high as 5%.
While the Credit Card Act was designed with positive intentions, the loopholes in its design have allowed credit card companies enough time to make everything more expensive for their card holders while pointing the blame at policymakers for forcing them to do it. Senator Charles Schumer, realizing too late that consumers were going the pay a steep price for the sloppy implementation of the bill, has been asking the Federal Reserve to step in to stop the issuers from making a mockery of the bill and the politicians that passed it, including those in the Obama administration that pressed hard for its passage. The Fed has declined to acquiesce to Schumer's pleas. It's not a surprise, considering that they're all bankers.

The Credit CARD Act Opens For Business
Starting this week the first phase of the Credit Card Accountability, Responsibility and Disclosure Act (The Credit CARD Act) goes into effect, requiring issuers give card holders 45 days' notice prior to raising their interest rate or making other material changes to other terms in the card's agreement. The new rule gives borrowers the choice to opt out of the increased rate and pay the balance off at the former interest rate while making no further purchases on that specific card. A second rule going into effect requires credit card companies to send out bills twenty one days before a payment is due. These two new rules are the first of a raft of new consumer protections to be phased in under the credit card law enacted in May. All of the law's changes will be in effect by February 2010.
The coming changes arrive after weeks of increases by the banking industry on minimum monthly payments, interest rates, and other fees charged to credit card holders. Nessa Feddis, American Bankers Association vice president for card policy, said it was impossible to quantify how much of the industry's behavior is being driven by the need to cut risk due to the weakening financial position of consumers or the regulatory changes contained in the new bill. She did admit that, "A strong part" of the account closings is due to the new 45 day advance notice rule at a recent conference call to reporters.
Prior to the bill going into effect, the standard industry practice was to hike rates on consumers immediately after an infraction, such as a late payment. Usually disclosed in the fine print of the application, borrowers would then complain that they were being hit with sudden rate increases and not given enough time to react to them. The new rule disallows issuers from basing immediate rate increases on these kinds of infractions by requiring 45 days' notice for all significant changes in the account terms. Additionally, issuers won't be able to raise rates on an existing balance unless a consumer is at least 60 days late. The requirement does not apply to certain card plans, such as those with variable rates based on a benchmark like the prime rate or an expiring promotional rate that was disclosed upfront.
The changes in the new bill will end "the tricks-and-traps business model that was designed to get consumers to accumulate a lot of interest," said Ed Mierzwinski, who heads financial services matters for the consumer group U.S. PIRG. The credit card industry, which vigorously fought the passage of the Credit CARD Act, contends the law will make it much more difficult for them to manage losses from the riskiest borrowers thereby forcing the cost of those risks to be spread across all card holders. That sentiment was summed up by Ms. Feddis saying, "Credit cards will be less available to consumers, their limits will be lower and they will pay more for credit." She added that the new regulations will force issuers to innovate, though it's not yet clear how. Hiking annual fees, cutting grace periods, eliminating perks and rewards programs are all on the table, she said.
Credit card holders should check their incoming statements for any rate hikes and other changes going into effect ahead of the regulations. If you are getting hikes in rates, fees, or payments check your contract to see what your rights are in terms of cancelling your account. If the increases on your account are going to push your monthly obligations beyond what you can pay, you'll need to take action quickly. For instance, Chase is already in the process of raising their minimum monthly payment for a portion of their card holders from 2% to 5%, an increase that will challenge many of those borrowers immediately.
Start looking around for promotional offers as it's inevitable that a few credit card issuers will try to attract card holders looking to make a move in the present environment. Be sure to get details, like the length of time for a promotional interest rate, in writing.
If you are currently carrying a low credit score transferring your balance to a new issuer could be difficult, if not impossible. If a transfer is not an option, you are struggling now, and higher payments are looming, entering into a debt settlement process may be your best course of action.
Debt settlements carry several advantages for borrowers:
An immediate reduction of approximately 50% on monthly payments for every account rolled into the settlement
Accounts which can be included in a debt settlement are credit cards, department store debt, medical bills, unpaid utilities, etc.
The balances on each account in the debt settlement can usually be negotiated down by 40% to 60%
The schedule for paying off the negotiated debt in full is flexible and based on the borrower's budget.
Typical payment schedules run from 18 to 48 months.
The results from debt settlement companies can vary widely so it's important to work with one you can trust. Be sure that the company is an accredited member of The Association of Settlement Companies (TASC) and that they have a long record of successful debt settlements. Interview them and ask enough questions to see if a debt settlement plan and the company that will negotiate it are right for you.
